The most brassy sounding woodwind could be the instrument for you.
Saxophone is an instrument providing a lot of freedom and scope for improvisation. We usually recommend seven or eight as the starting age for saxophone lessons. The saxophone family is known as a transpositional family of instruments due to the fact that you do not have to alter the fingering when playing different ones. One advantage of playing the saxophone is that the fingering and note reading is the same for all instruments. This makes it really easy to switch between the soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, only requiring the player to make adjustments to their embouchure.
