Kenneth L

Kenneth’s heritage is a family of concert pianists, and music teachers. He has been studying and playing music for more than 30 years. As a concert band director, he has been teaching piano, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, guitar, and ukulele for two decades . His great joy is helping students not only to learn the instrument of their choice, but to assist them in overcoming any physical or mental obstacles that may come across their path learning their instrument. His approach is patient and encouraging. His education consists principally in music and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He considers the well-being of each student and their learning of their chosen instrument of equal value.

Natalia V.

Natalia was nine years old when she first heard a piece for solo flute performed in a grand church, making her sit up a little straighter. On her tenth birthday, her father gave her her very first flute (a Yamaha student model), and she has been living the history of that day ever since. The role of flute performance in Natalia's life has transformed from an extra-curricular activity at the age of ten to her most challenging, captivating, rewarding, and necessary undertaking thus far. Natalia won numerous awards, recognitions, and scholarships in solo festivals and youth orchestras in her hometown of Bakersfield, California before moving her life to Southern California in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in flute performance. In August of 2015, she began her studies at San Diego State University where she studied with Pamela Martchev. She graduated in May 2020 with a B.M. in Flute Performance and a B.A. in Philosophy. During her time at San Diego State University, Natalia served as principal flutist of the Symphony Orchestra for 4 seasons, principal flutist of the Wind Symphony for 2 seasons, the principal flutist of the Chamber Orchestra for 3 seasons. She has had the opportunity to play under notable conductors such as Maxim Eshkenazy. As a soloist, she has been recognized by the San Diego Flute Guild and participated in masterclasses for Carol Wincenc, Jim Walker, Denis Bouriakov, Benjamin Smolen, and Seth Morris. Natalia can be heard on various albums and projects outside of classical music and has a passion for playing in diverse performance disciplines. She is an active flute coach and private instructor for all ages and skill levels and plans to earn her Masters Degree from Mannes School of Music in 2023.

Miguel Z.

"Miguel is a flute and keyboard player based in the Tri City Area around Vista, CA, where they coach at Aviara Oaks Middle School, and are currently pursuing an associates degree in flute performance at Mira Costa College, under the teaching of Dr. Elena Yarritu. They began their musical journey at age 12, picking up flute in the Aviara Oaks Middle School band, they accomplished what they could by practicing hard until high school, when they began to study under their first teacher, and around the same time, began to rediscover their love for piano under a new piano teacher as well. Since then, Miguel has pushed hard to become proficient in their two main instruments, also stopping along the way to tidy up their skills in mallet percussion, drums, and voice, from their past experience in percussion and vocal ensembles. They have had many opportunities to play with and perform in masterclasses for renowned artists such as Steve Kujala, Ian Clarke, Brian Pezzone, Julien Beaudiment, and more. Miguel thoroughly enjoys teaching and coaching people of all ages, helping anyone to discover where their musical interests lie, and helping uncover the hidden talents of their students. They incorporate elements of music theory, concepts from other instrumental disciplines, a healthily diverse selection of music and musical concepts, and their students' personal interests into their flute and piano lessons. Miguel is looking to help in any way they can, and broaden the understanding and appreciation of music for all of their students."

Kim T.

Kim is a composer, pianist, and organist based in the San Diego area. She has had 19 years of piano performance experience, 9 years of organ performance experience, 14 years of violin performance experience, 8 years of flute performance experience and 2 years of classical voice training. She specializes in the western classical tradition and improvisation and has a strong foundation in music theory. Kim has a bachelor’s degree in music composition from the University of Redlands, Conservatory of Music and has studied classical music abroad in Austria. She has studied under renowned musicians such as Anthony Suter, Alison Luedecke, Andre Meyers, Sara Andon, Philip Hoch, Donald Brinegar, Sakura Tsai, Ethan Haman, and Christa Rakich. Kim has also had experience performing in a plethora of orchestral, wind, vocal, and chamber ensembles.

Gabriel B.

Gabriel started playing the saxophone at age 10, playing in the band and singing in the choir in middle school and high school. While in high school, he picked up the clarinet and flute, playing in high school wind and jazz bands. Upon graduation he started playing in various jazz, blues, rock and ska groups in the Bay Area. It was at this time that he developed his guitar and keyboard fundamentals. He post-secondary education experience honing his musicianship and keyboard skills at DeAnza College in Cupertino, California. As a transfer student, he moved to LA to earn a B.M. and M.M., both in Wind Performance from California State University Northridge. It was there that he received his first formal lessons, under the mentorship of Professor Jerry Luedders. He performed as a member of the CSUN WInd Symphony, Jazz ‘C’ Band, the CSUN Saxophone Quartet, and the CSUN Saxophone Choir. His performance experience at CSUN includes dozens of recitals as a soloist, in chamber groups, as an accompanist for vocal soloists, and as a partner with student composers. Gabriel enjoys facilitating a lifelong love of music in his students. He motivates students by drawing out their natural abilities and developing physical fundamentals that minimize the discomfort of learning. Through teaching the fundamentals of music, Gabriel connects the joy of learning to the joy of making music.
