Monica is a versatile singer-songwriter from Miami, FL, now based in sunny San Diego. Her passion for music ignited early on, with childhood spent writing songs in her bedroom, performing in choirs and a-cappella groups, and competing in local competitions. This passion led her to pursue Music Therapy at the prestigious Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. At Frost, Monica's songwriting flourished alongside her formal training in piano, guitar, and vocal techniques. Drawing inspiration from diverse influences like neo-soul, jazz, Latin, and pop music, she has recently released her debut single, "Brilliant Sun," with a second single on the horizon for 2025. Monica excels at guiding beginning-to-intermediate students in vocal, guitar, and piano, helping them learn to play and sing their favorite pop or contemporary songs while providing foundational theory-based instruction. Classically trained vocalists can also benefit from Monica’s experience in transitioning from classical to authentic contemporary singing. As a skilled performer, Monica fosters a love for performing and personal expression in her students, encouraging songwriting, developing stage presence, and cultivating expressive singing, piano, and guitar playing. Monica believes in a holistic and individualized approach to music education, emphasizing proper technique, foundational music theory, and the development of musicality and expressiveness. Her unique blend of music therapy experience, training in contemporary genres, and a natural ability to connect with students make her an effective and engaging music teacher.
