Performing for dignitaries: diplomats, ambassadors, and high-level military officials at numerous venues such as Japan’s Budokon Hall, Sapporo Snow Festival, Hiroshima, Kobe, Kure, Shimoda, American Consulate in Tijuana, Mexico, Las Vegas. Performed for President Barack Obama on the USS Carl Vinson (2011), and the 60th Anniversary of the Bataan Death March in the Philippines to name a few. Winner of numerous competitions: Paul and Lilian Petri Award Competition, Mu Phi Epsilon woodwind division, honorable mention Oregon Symphony’s Corbett Competition, Concerto performances of Claude Debussy’s “Premiere Rhapsodie” with Portland State University’s orchestra, and Cavallini’s “Adagio and Tarantella” with Naval Band Southwest at the Escondido Performing Arts Center. Winner of the 2008 University of Arkansas Concerto Competition and member of the Armed Forces woodwind quintets, show bands, Dixie and marching bands, needless to say, he does performances on all family of clarinets and saxophones. He is a classically trained pianist of 20 years and often accompanies students in recitals. He has been a Latin pianist for Navy Band Southwest for 2 years. He is a former member of the Portland Youth Philharmonic under Jacob Avshalomov, and Huw Edwards. He did performances with Tito Puente Jr., Miss America 2010 Caressa Cameron, Mike Bogart Tower of Power Trumpet, Manny Cepeda Latin percussionist, Japanese Ground Self Defense Force Bands, Keith Clark conductor, Oliver Mercer Tenor, Brian Jagde Tenor. He is also a proud graduate of the Armed Forces School of Music with an outgoing score of 3.2 “Outstanding”.

Nathan B

Nathan began his musical journey at the age of 5 when he began taking piano lessons. His musicality expanded immensely when he joined the Poway High School Emerald Brigade Marching Band and discovered his love for composing. Since then, Nathan has composed music ranging from single piano pieces to full orchestra scores and continues to write in his free time today. Currently at San Diego Mesa College, he is involved in the vocal ensemble, the Applied Music Program, and does volunteer tutoring. He is pursuing his Associates Degree in music and plans to pursue his love for music composition, hoping to one day achieve his dream of becoming a film composer.

Nathan L

Nate teaches piano and guitar lessons and plays classical piano and rock guitar. He began taking piano lessons at age 6, and in his early teens taught himself to play guitar. Before acquiring his Bachelor of Music from Temple University in 2011, he had also begun to hone his vocal, drum, and bass skills. He is a recent Pennsylvania transplant, and has spent his time since graduating instructing private piano, guitar, bass, and ukulele lessons. Nate is a seasoned performer and songwriter and has played in various original and cover bands throughout the last fifteen years. His teaching style provides a well- rounded musical training founded on the backbone of music theory. His students are encouraged to choose much of their own material, and an emphasis is placed on ensemble play, musical thinking, ear training, and other concepts that strive to make music a more meaningful part of the student’s life. Nate is classically trained, and rock educated.

Richard D

Richard started teaching piano in high school before attending the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, where he received the Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. He attended the Moody Bible Institute and received the Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Sherwood Conservatory of Music in Chicago. Richard has played the piano in church and in classical concerts, including a number of piano concertos with orchestra. He has played concerts at Chicago’s historic Orchestra Hall and at the Cultural Center in Hong Kong, China. Besides teaching piano, Richard has accompanied soloists and choirs, performed many concerts in churches and in solo recitals, and conducted choirs and ensembles, both vocal and instrumental. Richard wants to instill the love of music and the creativity and discipline of learning an instrument in students, whether it be the piano, voice, or another instrument. Understanding theory and how music is designed and created is an integral part of the learning process. He loves teaching proper technique, so that a person can make and enjoy music for a lifetime. Richard teaches children, teens, and adults. Home-school and seniors are welcome with flexible schedules.

Russelle S

Russelle was born and raised in Southern California. His first memory of music was when he was young his mother would play the piano and sing when he was going to sleep. He said to himself, “I’m going to learn how to play the piano and sing as well.” While his piano skills are average, he really took a liking to singing and improving his vocal ability. He has performed in many musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Sleepy Hallow, and Once On This Island. He is currently in the Vocal Performance program at Palomar College and has performed in many recitals as a soloist and also with professional groups, including: the San Diego Master Chorale and the Bach Collegium of San Diego. When he was in High School, he was introduced to a vocal coach by his choir director which set him on his path as a musician. It is his dream to offer this same chance to young singers who aren’t sure where or how to start their journey as a vocalist/musician.

Salli M

Originally from Northern California, Salli ended up as lead singer for a house band in Richmond, California performing Jazz, R&B, and pop music. In Oakland, she had the privilege to be a 3-year student of Judy Davis. Judy was a well-known vocal teacher among the famous from Sinatra to Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day. In 2006, she graduated with honors in music from San Diego State University. For 8 years she was the lead singer of a smooth jazz band and they performed throughout Encinitas and San Diego County. Currently she is a featured singer for Thousand Eyes band and performs in Coronado. She has taught voice and piano at several music academies in Chula Vista, San Diego, and Temecula. Her students have ranged in ages from 4 to 70+. She uses several methods and techniques that she has learned from her education and experience. Tailoring the lessons to fit the needs of the student is important to her. She wants her students to have fun learning. Sharing her joy and knowledge with professional and beginning students keeps her inspired and she truly loves it.

Aaron B

Aaron was born and raised in San Diego, California, where he developed his passion for music. He began learning guitar at age 11, and shortly after, started taking lessons for piano and voice—he even taught himself how to play the ukulele! Only five years later, at age 16, he began to tutor friends on the guitar. Steven

Steven, as his friends call him, is a vocalist, violinist, and songwriter hailing from Los Angeles, CA. From a young age, he developed an interest in the musical arts, starting with piano and voice. He took up the guitar in middle school and continued to expand his instrumental repertoire with cello and darbouka. At 17, he later picked up the violin after watching Celtic Woman perform songs from their album ‘A New Journey’. That experience alone encouraged him to learn musical styles including Chalga, Turkish, Arabic, Latin and Neo-Soul. His list of influences includes Mairead Nesbitt, Toni Braxton, Robert Glasper, Matthew Mayfield, Jay Nash, and David Ramirez. In 2012, Steven embarked on his songwriting journey by participating in local open mic nights in Long Beach, Newport, Seal Beach, and Ventura County. It was during those open mic nights that he decided to pursue full-time musician. As of this year, he is recording his first R&B project, set to be released in Fall 2019 while his debut single will be released in late 2018. As an instructor and violinist, he understands that playing such a fickle instrument can be challenging, so he encourages all his students to have patience and get to know their instrument first. During his spare time, he surfs, writes music, and reads articles on Men’s Fashion. He is currently pursuing an A.A. degree in Music Production and Songwriting at Orange Coast College.

Stu S

Stu has been teaching piano, composition, and songwriting for over 35 years. After receiving a degree in Composition, he spent most of his life playing in bands, musicals, recording and performing all over the country. He taught Songwriting at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia as well as: piano, composition, songwriting and mentoring new singer-songwriters for 14 years at the Music Training Center. For 13 years, he was involved in teaching and creating experiential workshops for the Lincoln Center-based program: The Institute for the Arts in Education. Stu’s passion for songwriting helped him co-create The Philadelphia Songwriter’s Project, an ASCAP-sponsored organization that helped promote new, upcoming songwriters such as Amos Lee and Benj Pasek (songwriter of La La Land, Dear Evan Hanson, and The Greatest Showman). Besides playing in bands and solo performances, he has written two successful musicals, performed with the dynamic Original Dueling Pianos. His music can be heard in many Fringe festival shows in the San Diego area. Stu has a passion for teaching and a strong dedication to his students while bringing humor and creativity to each lesson.

Yaniv F

A native of San Diego, Yaniv participated in various music programs at a young age. After learning to play drums in elementary school, Yaniv went on to learn how to play other percussion instruments, including piano, vibraphone, and marimba. He has participated in and won various performances and in-school competitions. From these successes, he arranged at 16 for his music to be distributed to platforms such as iTunes, Napster, and Rhapsody. Following on these successes, Yaniv began composing music for short documentaries for Kawasaki and the MTV show Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory. Inspired by his past successes, Yaniv remains dedicated to composing and looks forward to sharing his passion for music with his students

Natalia V.

Natalia was nine years old when she first heard a piece for solo flute performed in a grand church, making her sit up a little straighter. On her tenth birthday, her father gave her her very first flute (a Yamaha student model), and she has been living the history of that day ever since. The role of flute performance in Natalia's life has transformed from an extra-curricular activity at the age of ten to her most challenging, captivating, rewarding, and necessary undertaking thus far. Natalia won numerous awards, recognitions, and scholarships in solo festivals and youth orchestras in her hometown of Bakersfield, California before moving her life to Southern California in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in flute performance. In August of 2015, she began her studies at San Diego State University where she studied with Pamela Martchev. She graduated in May 2020 with a B.M. in Flute Performance and a B.A. in Philosophy. During her time at San Diego State University, Natalia served as principal flutist of the Symphony Orchestra for 4 seasons, principal flutist of the Wind Symphony for 2 seasons, the principal flutist of the Chamber Orchestra for 3 seasons. She has had the opportunity to play under notable conductors such as Maxim Eshkenazy. As a soloist, she has been recognized by the San Diego Flute Guild and participated in masterclasses for Carol Wincenc, Jim Walker, Denis Bouriakov, Benjamin Smolen, and Seth Morris. Natalia can be heard on various albums and projects outside of classical music and has a passion for playing in diverse performance disciplines. She is an active flute coach and private instructor for all ages and skill levels and plans to earn her Masters Degree from Mannes School of Music in 2023.

Kostik C.

Kostyantyn was born in Ukraine, but grew up in San Diego, CA. He was learning piano and violin before deciding to pick up guitar in fifth grade. Kostyantyn is currently active as a solo artist under the pseudonym iamnotok and in three metal bands as a vocalist and songwriter for Zero South and bass guitarist for Mandala and Final Vice. He takes inspiration from many genres of music for his original songs. Kostyantyn is a graduate of UC San Diego’s Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts (ICAM) major, where he learned about recording and music technology and even developed a prototype multi-effects pedal. He was also a board member of the Musicians’ Club at UCSD, where he regularly performed a wide variety of songs with other collegiate musicians. Kostyantyn has been teaching for over 5 years and likes to teach most styles of guitar playing. He primarily has experience playing rock and progressive metal, but also has experience playing classical music. Kostyantyn is a laid-back instructor that wants to get to know his students’ musical interests so that he can best help them develop the skills and techniques needed to play their favorite music. Kostyantyn has over a dozen guitars and basses suited for the different types of music he plays, and he enjoys picking up new hobbies and learning new things regularly.

Megan finished her B.A. in Communications at UCSD in 2017 and has since been a sought-after performer, session musician (piano and voice), music director, piano teacher, and vocal coach in San Diego. She is classically trained in piano performance and music theory, completing her California Certificate of Merit, Level 10 in 2011, and has experience playing many different genres including pop, rock, reggae, musical theater, jazz, and more. Jaime N.

Jaime Andres is a guitar and Piano player from Bogota, Colombia who moved to San Diego, California at the age of 7 to pursue his musical career. At the age of 18 he first picked up the guitar, and since then has been working toward mastering the instrument while learning many different music styles. After a year and a half of being self-taught, he decided to apply to college as a classical guitarist, while continuing to learn other musical styles on his own. After applying to San Diego Mesa College as a classical guitarist, he received multiple music scholarships and earned his degree with high honors. His teaching career also began in college, where he tutored his classmates in music theory piano, and guitar. Since then Jaime has been teaching independently. Jaime's method of teaching is completely tailored to each student, being classically trained while having various backgrounds in other styles, he always makes sure to get the most out of your musicality and passion.

Nicholas L.

Nicholas started playing the Violin when he was 7 years old and has been playing for the last 22 years. He was classically trained at the conservatory of Music in San Francisco and spent his younger years playing in small orchestras and symphonies. Nicholas had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall with his youth orchestra. After a lot of time spent in the classical realm, he wanted to explore the reaches of the earth, playing in Jazz and Hip Pop bands in California, Rock bands in New York and the UK, as well as taking it upon himself to play in the streets of Italy, Prague and Spain. Whatever your niche is, Nicholas got it.
